:) So I spent the last week completely afflicted with nausea. Damn antibiotics that cause dizziness. I missed so much class, but on the bright side, I had D around to take care of me. He's been really sweet through my nagging and complaining. Haha :) Midyear and DLSSP south went pretty well -- I'm very excited to see what the new Circle K year will bring, come DCON.
Well, I'm putting off an essay for Japanese right now, so off I go to be productive!

| I can't remember when I began the transition from a daily (and sometimes many times daily) blogger to an infrequent one, but it's been almost 2 months since my last post. I think it's subconsciously due to that conversation with j.pak when he said I'm not allowed to post about happy things, just angst. Haha. Well, I'm up keeping D company while he works on a lab protocol, and in my decision to not do my Japanese homework, I decided to update. Life's been having its ups and downs, to say the least.
Valentine's Day weekend was amazing (except for my being slightly sick) -- Friday night, D and I went to our favorite restaurant (Sasaya) for an early v-day dinner and then rendezvous'd at his house for the weekend. Saturday night we made some yummy grilled ahi tuna and asparagus, grabbed a bottle of champagne, and had a 'picnic' in his bedroom. :) That was a lot of fun and a great way to spend the commercialized holiday with the one I love. <3
Since fourth week, my schedule has been ridden with midterms. Damn taking north AND south campus classes... Taking it one day at a time as I always do, I've been having a lot of late nights of cramming and caffeine. It seems to be paying off, at least. I checked my yahoo email account today to find a message from my international finance professor that simply read "Alice, Congratulations on your midterm. AT". I have no idea what to make of it, but I'll be finding out my score tomorrow in lecture. Logic says I probably set my very first Econ class curve, but when I told D, he said that if he were a professor, he'd want to mess with people by so-called 'congratulating' them. Sigh.
This past weekend was Kiwanis Midyear and DLSSP North. It was fun, stressful, irritating, hilarious, eye-opening, and exciting all at once. I flew up on Friday afternoon and met up with Danny; the two of us waited for Cheriz to pick us up from OAK. I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone who loves paying for convenience as much as I do had not taken advantage of air travel as often as I ought to. Sure the whole process took four hours, but at least I didn't have to drive that entire time plus two additional hours. I spent a lot of downtime in the airport, which actually made me feel like quite the jetsetter :) Anywho, that night we went to a Chinese restaurant in the student village for cheap 'happy hour' meals before heading to a cake-decorating contest fundraiser in the dorms. It was great seeing old friends, as well as the crazy culinary confections (those contestants went all out!). Gail took us dboardies to Sac, where we were to do beginning inventory and then (ideally) get some sleep in my hotel room. We woke up devastatingly early the next morning to set up and open shop. Supply sales were excruciatingly long (and sales were slow, given the state of the economy). I was quite happy to discover that I would have plenty of volunteers helping me with ending inventory after we were finally able to close down. All of the Circle K'ers left in Sac met up for dinner at Elephant Bar; among our party of 19, the dboardies ended up isolating ourselves :( (Although to be honest, I was too tired to be sociable; dboardies have this unconditional love for each other especially in times of stress.) After much needed food (and a treat!), we headed back and chilled in my hotel room. All 7 of us. The next morning we woke up to discover a downpour of rain that had partially disrupted the plans for DLSSP. All was well in the end, and I think people had a blast :) Cheriz, Danny, Alex, Amy and I went out for dinner at House of Curries (yay mushroom masala, garlic naan, and chai tea!) before they dropped me off at the airport to fly home. I was very happy to return to LA and especially to see D again :)
Today I opted to sleep in and just spend time at his place to rest up for a long week ahead. We woke up lazily and went to eat at Cici's Cafe. Yum. :) I was feeling pretty blah today (I blame hormones), but he's been really sensitive about it and tried to make me feel better. <3 We ended up running out to Gelson's to buy nutella, bananas, and white bread and cheer ourselves up with a sweet treat. Oddly enough, as we were assembling said food in the kitchen, we started talking about angsty/awkward years and somehow it progressed to an hour-long conversation about exes, about angst, and about how things used to be in our lives. I did end up feeling a lot better afterward, and although I was unable to regain focus (thus not accomplishing ANYTHING at all), at least my head is clearer now.
Well, it's 4am and I'd just written a monstrously long blog entry. Off I go to slumberland (unfortunately to wake up in a few hours for class). I hope life has been treating you all well.

| So going to the rave with the bf was pretty much the best way to spend NYE ever! After I got back to his place, I changed into my awesome pink plaid punk-girl outfit and off we went to pick up a friend's sister and her friend. It was so cold outside, but it warmed up after wandering the perimeter of the Sports Arena a few times, searching for will call. We managed to find it and get in line just as they were letting people in. Somehow, the bf and i managed to get up to the very front of the crowd, center-stage! It was crazy how crowded that venue was, given its size. Just when I thought it couldn't get crazier, the curtain dropped, and there was Armin Van Buuren just 15 feet in front of us! Ahhhh~~ so awesome. We spent a good two hours or so on the dance floor until the jostling just got to be too much and we migrated to the bleachers. Just before the countdown, he played Sound of Goodbye~! And the countdown itself was so cool -- at the stroke of midnight, tons of confetti burst over the arena. After a few hours of recuperating, the bf and I went down to stage right, somewhat close to the front, and danced there until the end. There was so much fog as we walked back to the car, it gave me the creeps! Anyway, we started 2009 in the best way possible -- SOON TOFU AT BCD! Haha. Nothing like a 24 hour hot Korean tofu soup restaurant to kick off the new year with a bang :)
Here's to a new year!

| (...yes, this is the customary end-of-the-year blog entry)
So the day has finally come -- December 31, 2008. After a year of infrequent blogging, I finally get to type up this entry, where I revel in the good things that happened this year and grimace as I recall the bad. Let's see...
In 2008, I... -rang in the first few days of the year with a NorCal roadtrip with J.Pak and Neda -made a huge mistake, drank my way out of depression, and wish I had handled things differently -learned about TWLOHA -spent Singles Awareness Day with my bbfla, S -joined Koshin Taiko -was officially initiated/installed as a founding/Alpha-class member of Phi Gamma Nu -played taiko for six hours straight at LA Marathon -visited LACMA and the Broad Contemporary Art Museum -became District Treasurer for CNH Circle K -watched a lot of Japanese dramas -played broomball for the first time (pledges vs. actives) -served as Chair of Volunteer Recruitment for the APEX Youth Olympics -picked up the best lil bro anyone could ever ask for -deactivated from PGN -met a boy in my Japanese class, who ended up asking me out and whom I'm still dating <3 -interned for TOKYOPOP, the manga company -saw Kung Fu Panda in IMAX (not bad for a second date, right? haha) -performed at the VJCC summer festival :) -went camping for the first time (presidents' retreat!) and hiked through the mountains (death hike!) -took three summer classes at ucla and two at SMC -convinced the bf to buy a disneyland annual pass so we could spend many magical days at the happiest place on earth -went to Nocturnal with the bf and his friends -made tiramisu from scratch! -took yoga classes with S -went to Venice Beach and got henna with Kristy -saw a Greek play (oh not just any Greek play -- a segment of The Orestia!) at the Getty Villa in Malibu -got two speeding tickets :( -threw the most AMAZING halloween party ever (with the roomie!) -cried over not the election outcome, but the results of the propositions -saw Amanda Bynes at the most awesome late-night diner ever -was elected Chair of University Relations for APEX -finally succumbed to Gossip Girl and Twilight
I learned a lot. I laughed a lot. I cried a lot. I met new people, visited new places, tried new things... I can't wait for what 2009 will have in store for me :)

| NO. I'm dispelling all rumours now before they spread like wildfire! I am NOT running for the offices of District Governor NOR International President for 2009-2010. Don't get me wrong, I love Circle K and all, but after this term is over, I need a break to focus on my career path and school work. Not to mention, I'm planning to graduate next fall quarter, so I'm actually not qualified to run for those positions anyway (you need to be at least a part-time student).
